The Continued Fascination with Ember Days

Elijah the Prophet before his fast. "What, a loaf of bread? This
is my last meal? Bread? I was expecting maybe more. A Reuben?
That too much to ask?"
We've been pretty obsessed with Ember Days over the years here at SFC. Moreso than normal. Which is fine.

Just a reminder: Today is one of 3 Ember Days for this week. Catholics, when we were what we were which was pretty great for what it was, used to fast after Ash Wednesday, Pentecost, The Triumph of the Cross (when that was that) and St. Lucy's Day.

The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was Saturday. So it's time to tighten up.

Today (Wednesday), and Friday and Saturday are the Ember Days.

Suggestion intentions:
Pray for VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD: We need priests in the Diocese. I mean, REAL PRIESTS, not guys who wanna play a bit of golf, drink some scotch and go shopping with the ladies and lament that he has to work so hard on Sunday with those 3 Masses and all. We've got those. We don't need them. WE NEED PRIESTS TO BE PASTORS SO WE CAN BE WHAT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE THAT IS WHAT WE WAS. WERE. WHATEVER.

Pray for Syria, the Mid-east and the World's Peace: The Pope asked us to do this earlier this month when President Obama was determined to strike the Mideast. The situation has lessened in tension but the Mid-east is still in need of peace. Maybe today can be a fast for Syria, Friday for the Mid-east and Saturday for the World.

There are LOTS of things to pray for really.

So get to it. Put down the fork. Pick up the Rosary and prepare to BE WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!
