Not Another SFC Rerun, but a ReMIX!

Charles realized he was in deep trouble when he sang
"Like a Good Neighbor" and a guy showed up with ashes
This morning we had the only Mass of the day. There are two...wooops, there goes the time...one other opportunity for ashes today in the Catholic tradition. 5:30pm. Ash-n-dash!

I've been watching the parade of Catholics coming to the door and wandering around the Church and it's exterior as if, somehow, somewhere, a Mass or at least, ash would happen.

Which reminded me of the "ASHES TO GO" deal from last year. Random Episcopalians would run up to citizens around the world and ash them. I went to the site today to see what's going on with the "movement" and see that it has the states and places you can get ashed.

Here's a sample of what's going on in the parallel universe down here in the Southeast:

We are perhaps doing a variation on the Ashes to Go theme. We will have an Ash Wednesday Service with ashes offered following our normal meeting/discussion time. Jesus on Tap is a group for believers, questioners, non-believers, and everyone in between. We come together to discuss issues of faith, religion, theology, and spirituality. We are open to and welcoming of all people, beliefs, non-beliefs, and faith traditions. The service will be offered upstairs at the Gray Lady in downtown Tuscaloosa. It will begin about 8 p.m. All are welcome to join us for the discussion, and all are welcome to join us for the service following. All are just simply welcome.
(Jesus on Tap is faciliated by the Rev. Kelley Hudlow, Deacon, St. Matthias Episcopal Church, Tuscaloosa, AL)

Jesus on Tap? I don't wanna start nothin' but that's very similar to a certain copyrighted name of a theology study that takes places in eateries and drinking establishments. What kind of person would sneakily change the name a bit but keep the concept? My my my....

Oh man, I wanna make some popcorn! When you mix a non-biblical Christian tradition, the deep south and Wal-Mart, something AWESOME will happen!

Methodists, Episcopalians, Brethren and possibly Lutherans will collaborate on this first Ashes to Go in Great Falls. Excited to see how this experiment works out!

Ok, so if you're not sold that the Brethren will be there, come out because the Lutherans just might be!

Thank you, Mississippi for not having this yet. Our unchurched are even churched on Ash Wednesday!
