2112

Before the interest in the Mayan calendar and it's prediction of the endtimes in 2012, there was Canadian rock band Rush's prog-rock album 2112. This overlong album was set in a dystopian future where a collective authoritarian body sought to squelch the human spirit. Spoiler Alert: Human spirit wins.

Due to the date, today is officially RUSH day.

The only memory I have of this album is from the summer of '84 when 4 of my friends and myself went to Florida for a summer vacation and some of the "tunes" for the trip in my car was this album. It was awful and it made me love Prince more than ever.  For those giving a big "DUH HUH?" to this whole thing, here's a recent nod to Geddy Lee and company-
